Weather conditions across the Kootenays are ripe for an intense thunderstorm to develop on Tuesday.
This comes as Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the southeast corner of the province, stretching from the Grand Forks area to the B.C./Alberta border.
Environment Canada officials said conditions are right for a storm that could produce strong wind gusts, large hail and/or heavy rain.
“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles,” said Environment Canada.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
