As the cost of living continues to rise, there is no better time to see what improvement you can make at home to save some dollars, and the City of Nelson and the Regional District of Central Kootenay want to help.
The City of Nelsons Energy Programs Coordinator, Arlo Bryn-Thorn, says there are many financial incentives available to lower your bills and improve comfort.
“Registering with the Regional Energy Efficiency Program to access support is free and available to all residents. Our services provide support throughout the process. We are able to share program information that is relevant to each person’s situation.”
Services available include:
- Schedule a home evaluation with an Energy Advisor
- Find local contractors
- Access rebates and low-interest financing
- Learn about Income qualified programs
- Get resources for building a new home
“CleanBC’s Energy Savings Program just got a little bit of a boost of rebates available for heat pumps and energy service upgrades,” said Bryn-Thorn. This program’s update also expanded the eligibility criteria.
“Equity and accessibility are key components to our program and making sure that we are getting the word out of our program to those who could really use the support in lowering their energy costs and reducing their emissions is one of our biggest goals.”
How to Sign Up
All RDCK residents, including the municipalities within the region can register for the Regional Energy Efficiency Program through the RDCK website.
“Once you register, you’ll get a call within a couple business days from one of our team members and in that initial call we can establish what your energy efficiency goals are and what kind of support you’re looking for to complete those energy efficiency upgrades.”
“Majority of the RDCK is covered by the FortisBC service area and anybody with a Nelson Hydro account, for example within the City of Nelson or just outside the City of Nelson, are eligible for those Fortis BC rebates.”
The REEP team will support you throughout your energy efficiency journey and is here to help you understand which programs you may be eligible for and simplify the whole process for you.
