RDKB rescinds evacuation alert for Lower Campbell Crk Wildfire

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is rescinding the evacuation alert for five (5) properties west of Carmi (Wilkinson Creek Area) based on advice from the BC Wildfire Service.

The Service reports that the fire is being held and is expected to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.

“EOC staff would like to thank the local residents for their preparedness and for respecting the crews work on the ground and in the air. We know this was a stressful time for residents, and we are happy to rescind the alert with a positive outcome,” says Mark Stephens, EOC Director.

The Lower Campbell Creek Wildfire (K51472) is currently 223 hectares.

The RDKB will continue to monitor the situation and update citizens should conditions change.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant as we continue to experience warm temperatures.
