Nitehawks come from behind to beat Rebels

Beaver Valley Nitehawks didn’t make it easy for themselves, chasing down the win in last night’s match up against the Castlegar Rebels.

It was a Rebel’s scoreboard in the first period, with two goals thanks to Kwentyn Oss and Carter Peters.

The Rebels kept the pressure on in the second period, finding the net twice through Antonio Ferrise and Carter Peter for his second of the night, but then the Nitehawks fought back.

The home side went back-to-back with Liam Sherbinin and Joel Smyth kicking off their scoring season with one each.

Rebels led 4 to 2 heading into the final period, but the home side stepped up early in the third with Brock Roberston and Kai Holowachuk sinking the puck in the first few minutes to level the score.

Keeping the pressure on Hunter Hansen found the net to put the Nitehawks in the lead for the first time in the game, while Owen Dickson brought more pain for Beaver Valley’s fourth goal of the period.

Rebel’s Hunter Jaman responded late in the second half of the period, clawing back one point, before Brock Robertson secured his second and the final goal of the games in the final 30 seconds.

Nitehawks took the win 7 to 5 on the final buzzer.
