It was tough fight to the finished, but in the end the Vernon Vipers took the win against the Trail Smoke Eaters 6 to 5 in Saturday’s BCHL game.
Vipers caused the first sting to the game, finding in the net twice in the first period through Erik Pastro and Keeghan Dunn, before the Smokies fought back with Deacon Drummond getting one through.
It was deja vu in the second period, with the Vipers getting another two inside six minutes, before Trail’s Jason Stefanek to keep his team in the chase.
The goals went one-for-one, with Viper’s Lucan Brennan followed shortly by Trail’s Evan Sundar to keep the visitors trailing 5-3 heading into the final period.
Trail managed to tie up the game midway through the 3rd with Sundar sinking his second and Cade De St. Hubert behind him, only to have the Vernon score in the final 2 and a half minutes to beat the Smokies 6-5.
