City of Castlegar Prepares for Seasonal Park Closures

As cooler weather sets in, seasonal closures begin this week at Castlegar’s parks.

The natural swimming ponds at Millennium Park have officially closed for the season, and the splash zone at Kinsmen Park will follow next week.

Seasonal Park washrooms and water fountains remain open for now and are expected to close in mid-October to prevent freezing during the colder months. However, the frost-free drinking fountains located at the entrance to Millennium Park & Ponds and at the K1 & K2 fields in Kinnaird Park will stay open throughout the winter.

Sports fields are also set to close by mid-October. Before the first snow, Parks staff will inspect the fields to assess any repairs and conduct necessary maintenance. Sports teams are kindly reminded to respect these seasonal closures to help maintain the quality of the fields for spring re-opening.
