The city states that this proactive measure ensures adequate water supply during extremely dry conditions.
Under Stage 2 water conservation measures, the following watering restrictions are in place on alternating days, based on your house number:
- Watering of lawns, decorative hanging baskets, landscaping, sidewalks, roofs and any outdoor surfaces using any method is ONLY permitted between 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Watering of gardens, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and washing of vehicles, boats, and motorized equipment using a hand-held hose with a shut-off nozzle, a watering can, or a drip-irrigation system is also ONLY permitted between 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The watering of edible gardens and fruit trees for personal use remains permitted at any time, but the city encourages conservation, with hand watering and drip irrigation preferred.
Further restrictions will be in place for industrial, commercial, golf courses, and institutional operations.
The city asks residents for compliance, stating that costly upgrades to the community’s infrastructure can be deferred by minimizing potable water use, as well as reducing costs associated with water treatment and pumping.
Violators of the restrictions face penalties starting at $100.
