Rossland man criminally charged in relation to spray painting incident

Rossland’s Kyle Hahn has been criminally charged with mischief in relation to a string of spray painting incidents in Castlegar.

According to a media release from Castlegar RCMP, the detachment received numerous reports of property damage caused by spray painting over a three month period. In one incident, a large vehicle was spray painted, resulting in around $80,000 worth of damage.

A police investigation determined similarities among many of these incidents. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing security footage, a suspect and an associated vehicle were identified.

Police located the suspect, 39-year old Kyle Hahn, and his vehicle on the 1700 block of Columbia Avenue on September 2, 2024. He was taken into police custody and a subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of items that furthered the police investigation.

Hahn was later released from custody on bail conditions. RCMP then forwarded their investigation to the British Columbia Prosecution Service, which led to his arrest on October 15.

He’s now been officially charged with mischief, and was scheduled to appear in Castlegar Court on October 16 and thereafter as directed by the court.
