A Montrose man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of his wife.
The incident occurred on Monday, November 4, when Trail RCMP responded to a call in Montrose regarding a male assaulting a female on the front lawn of a residence.
When officers and BC Emergency Health Services arrived on scene, they found a woman, Lindsay Christine Danchella, suffering from significant injuries. She was transported to hospital, where she died shortly after.
Her estranged husband, 46-year-old Donald James Danchella, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Trail RCMP Detachment, where he was lodged in cells.
The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) was called in to take over the investigation.
The suspect was charged with second-degree murder shortly after the incident and appeared in court on November 5.
“The securing of charge approval was the culmination of the tireless efforts of investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, BC RCMP Forensic Identification Services, and members of the Trail RCMP,” said SED MCU Unit Commander, Staff Sergeant Jason Smart.
