KIJHL weekend wrap

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its eighth week of regular season action for the 2024-25 season.

The Merritt Centennials are now at the top following a three-win weekend. The Cents defeated the Nelson Leafs 7-3 on Nov. 8, then earned a 6-2 win over the Castlegar Rebels, and completed their Kootenay road trip with a come-from-behind win over the Grand Forks Border Bruins 8-6 on Nov. 10.

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks dropped one spot. They started their week with a 10-1 win over the Kimberley Dynamiters, then dropped a 4-2 decision to the Osoyoos Coyotes.

The Grand Forks Border Bruins stay at No. 5. In their lone game of the week on Sunday, November 10, the Border Bruins lost to the Centennials 8-6, they led 5-2 after the second period.

And Creston Valley Thunder Cats were one and one over the weekend. After going down to the Columbia Valley Rockies 5 to 1, thee Thunder Cats overcame the Golden Rockies in overtime for the 3-2 win on Saturday evening.
