Don’t get ripped off this holiday season

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre doesn’t want to see consumers get ripped off during the holiday season and the consumer group has released a list of tips to help out.

It warns that brand name goods sold online are often listed for quick sale or for prices that are too good to be true. They advise people to save their money and pride by shopping with reputable retailers.

Another scam shoppers need to be wary of includes the buying of goods or services where people are willing to pay more than the asking price.

The organization added unsolicited text messages or emails impersonating legitimate shipping companies will urgently request personal or payment information because of so-called to incomplete shipping information.

Anyone who suspects they have been the target of cybercrime or fraud should report it to local police.
