Castlegar is hoping the provincial government can help pay to remediate homes with high radon levels.
City councillor Kevin Chernoff says that’s the gist of a motion they adopted this week.
Recent testing in Castlegar found 59% of homes had radon levels that exceed national standards.
The naturally occuring gas can cause lung cancer over long-term exposure.
Castlegar successfully lobbied the province to change the BC building code to address radon.
