Quick action has saved a Trail home from going up in flames after fire fighting crews responded to an early morning structure fire at 1435 3rd Avenue.
Upon arrival just after 3am, crews found the garage fully engulfed in heavy smoke and flames.
The fire quickly spread to the main residence, but thanks to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the fire crews, the blaze was contained, preventing further damage to the home and neighboring properties.
The homeowner was safely evacuated, and there were no injuries reported to either the homeowner or firefighters.
“Crews worked tirelessly to ensure the fire was fully controlled and extinguished, and fire investigators are continuing to assess the cause.” said Captain Ryan Smith.
The cause of the fire remains undermined.
Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue (KBRFR) is urging residents to follow fire safety practices, particularly in garage areas, to help prevent similar incidents.
