Who is Anne Warwick Sears?
As stated on her campaign page, Anna Warwick Sears spent 19 years in the lead up to her recent retirement, was the Executive Director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board, a local government agency focused on Okanagan water sustainability.
Raised in B.C., Dr. Sears received a PhD in population biology at the University of California – Davis, returning to Canada in 2006 to work for the Water Board.
Her work has encompassed government relations; delivering applied water science in partnership with government and university researchers; attracting funding and other resources for climate adaptation; and acting as spokesperson for media and public communications.
She is an accomplished collaborator and has worked with various Government agencies, private organizations, academics, and volunteer boards across Canada.
Dr. Sears is a member of the International Osoyoos Lake Board of Control, appointed by the International Joint Commission, and an alternate commissioner on the Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission, appointed by the B.C. Premier.
She is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia.
Anna grew up on Kootenay Lake and lived in Vernon prior to moving to Kelowna for the Okanagan Basin Water Board.
Anna currently lives in Coldstream, and in her free time enjoys gardening, bike riding, paddling, cross-country skiing, and all that the Okanagan has to offer.
Dr. Sears was the BC NDP candidate in Kelowna – Lake Country – Coldstream for the 2024 provincial election. Anna Warwick Sears is a centrist choice with sound policy ideas, choosing to run for office to represent the citizens of the Vernon – Lake Country – Monashee riding to help increase the western voices in Ottawa.
