Castlegar approves major tree planting effort

The City of Castlegar is moving ahead with its Street Tree Master Plan.

The city held a public meeting last week as their contractor presented different ideas and trees for the community.

Councillor Dan Rye says there are many positives to these plans and trees offer a beautiful aesthetic to a city.

The official plan says trees provide cleaner air, land, and water.

It also suggests street trees help motorists slow down and reduce traffic noise.

Rye says the plan will be rolled out over a number of years.
