Hopefully families and individuals with financial challenges in the Greater Trail area won’t get caught up in politics when it comes to a new recreation policy.
This from Silver City councillor Sandy Santori after their new leisure access program was approved Monday that will offer eligible applicants within the city 50% off certain services and programs.
Santori expressed concerns that the program doesn’t help low income people in the surrounding communities – just Trail residents.
Beaver Valley currently has a reimbursement program for residents who use Trail facilities and Santori hopes they’ll extend that to help those who can’t afford services.
Rossland does not reimburse residents for using Trail facilities.
