Pipe bridge referendum would be a catastrophic blow: Mayor

It will be a catastrophic blow if Trail’s proposed pedestrian/pipe bridge is pushed to a referendum in November.

This from the Mayor with concerns some residents are garnering support for a petition – opposing the 9.5 million dollar project – arguing against design.

Dieter Bogs says it’s unfortunate some residents are making suggestions with no validity when City-hired engineers looked at six options to find the most viable one.

The RDKB is building the crossing for a sewer pipe and will contribute 4.5 million dollars with the rest coming from Trail.

If 10% of Silver City residents support the petition the issue will be pushed to referendum in the upcoming municipal election.
