The City of Castlegar will be installing two public access life-rings at the Millennium Ponds aqua attraction.
Council voted on the motion this week after the Lifesaving Society reached out to the City about increasing safety at the unsupervised swimming area.
Councillor Deb McIntosh says with how popular the ponds are  they cannot be safe enough.
The society received an $8,000 donation through the province and the service employees union.
The money was provided in the memory of four drowning victims on Slocan Lake last year.
The installation of the rings will cost approximately $500.
