Interest in fibre optic broadband from local property and business owners has exceeded the Silver City’s expectations.
Trail received 164 requests – nearly 40 more than planned for – so they will up their budget by $26,000 to total over $92,000.
Information Systems Coordinator Duane Birnie says it will be nice to see a 30% uptake from the interested parties but the actual service comes from independent providers.
Connections are expected to begin immediately with an estimated 10 hook ups per week over that 4 month period.
