The man who fell through the ice and died on the Kettle River near Grand Forks last week was Thomas Grubisic.
The BC Coroners service has confirmed the identity.
He was 54 years old and a resident of Grand Forks.
Tracks in the snow suggest Grubisic was trying to walk across the ice-covered river last Wednesday afternoon.
He was seen holding onto the ice but he disappeared before recuers could get to him.
His body was recovered by the RCMP dive team Thursday.
The coroner and police continue to investigate.
