The city of Nelson has learned the outcome of a provincial review into how many officers its police department should have.
But the public is not being informed until city council and the Nelson Police Board have had a chance to review that decision.
The issue is very controversial.
The NPD has called for two more officers they say they need to add to their complement of 17. But council has rejected the request which would cost taxpayers around $300,000 a year more.
The mayor says there will be no public comment until both parties have reviewed the findings of the provincial Director of Police Services.
No time frame was given.
