The former Mayor Of Grand Forks is in the race to get back on city council and says he can help the current mayor.
Brian Taylor, who was ousted in the 2014 election, is one of seven runners in the by-election to fill a vacant seat.
He says the man who replaced him, Frank Konrad, jumped into a very difficult job with little experience and has had to do a lot of learning.
When asked about the current dysfunctional atmosphere at city council Taylor says he would not make that the centre focus of his attention and it will not be part of his campaigning.
He says he wants to plan for and be part of an exciting future in Grand Forks.
