A mixed reaction from the President of the Nelson and District Teachers Union to the province cutting back on exams.
As part of ongoing changes from the Ministry of Education next year grade 10’s will write only a provincial math exam and grade 12’s only English. That’s instead of five in total.
Paul Boscariol says it’s good for grade 10’s to have less exam stress but he figures grade 12’s who are going on to further education need the exams.
Boscariol says the main concern for teachers with changes to BC’s curriculum is the lack of teaching products like videos and text books for the new K to 9 offerings introduced last year.
