Industry asks RDCK to lift park model home ban

An industry group is asking the Regional District of Central Kootenay to re-think a policy on park model homes.

The RDCK has banned them because they don’t meet the building code and are only designed for seasonal use.

But Gord Rattray of the Manufactured Housing Association of BC thinks there are better solutions.

Rattray says their members have lost sales as a result of the ban.

He says these homes don’t meet the code because of lesser insulation but they’re perfectly safe.

The RDCK is concerned people are living in them year-round.
