Public schools across B.C are closed Monday as teachers convene for a province-wide “study session”.
Teachers are set to begin a full scale strike Tuesday after last week’s union vote saw 86% of those who cast a ballot supported escalating job action.
The BC Teachers Federation and the Province bargained throughout the weekend under a media blackout.
On Friday, BCTF President Jim Iker said they had tendered a new bargaining package and wage proposal.
Iker said teachers would either be looking at a revised bargaining package during the study session on Monday, or a contract settlement.
