Castlegar’s Wildsafe BC coordinator is hoping to build off the best year in a decade when it comes to bear conflicts in the area.
Jenny Wallace is on the job a month earlier than usual reminding residents to take care of wildlife attractants before bears show up.
Wallace says there was a great natural food crop last year that kept many bears from searching communities for food.
However, she explains that does set up the potential for a busy season this year.
Only four habituated bears were destroyed last year compared to twenty in 2012.
