Trail’s longtime parks and recreation director is moving on.
Trisha Davison will leave the city in June after 15 years of service to join the Regional District of Central Kootenay, where she will be the new regional manager of recreation and client services.
In a news release, the city said Davison has been an “invaluable staff member bringing expertise and professionalism to lead staff through daily operations, large capital projects, and challenging times.”
“I’ve had the opportunity to work with wonderful staff teams, many dedicated community stakeholders, multiple councils, and regional partners,” she said. “My time with Trail has been tremendously rich, rewarding, and full of pride for this community.”
In addition to leading parks and rec, she also oversaw management of the Trail Museum and Archives.
“Working in the parks, recreation and culture field gives you the opportunity to be part of developing communities where residents want to live, work, and play,’” she said.
Davison said she is proud of many projects and initiatives she has been part of in Trail, including building the Trail SK8 Park, opening the Trail Riverfront Centre, and managing operations through the pandemic.
She thanked the city and community “for their trust in me all of these years to oversee a service that I know is very near and dear to so many people.”
The city said council and staff will miss her “energy, camaraderie, and the boundless skills ” she brought to the position.
Mayor Colleen Jones said she worked closely with Davison on many projects, including the Riverfront Centre during her time as library board chair.
“I’ve always admired her unwavering commitment and her professional and tactful approach to leadership and management, especially during the pandemic. Council wishes her all the best at the RDCK and we look forward to hearing about her accomplishments and successes in her new role.”
Davison’s replacement in Trail has not been named yet.
