Castlegar wildfire being held

A wildfire that broke out Saturday afternoon in Castlegar is now being held.

The city says that means the Davidson Brook fire, which has burned about two hectares, isn’t likely to spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions.

Nineteen firefighters from the BC Wildfire Service are on site, continuing to water down hot spots.

The fire, west of the 1100 block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar, is believed to be human caused.

It’s one of 28 fires sparked over the weekend in the Southeast Fire Centre, although most of the others were due to lightning.
