Castlegar RCMP responded to reports of a collision on Columbia Avenue Sunday afternoon involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The detachment said it was alerted to the incident just before 7:30 p.m. on September 15 at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and 20th Street.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle stopped in a travel lane and a 31-year-old woman lying on the road, complaining of injuries.
So far, the police investigation has determined that the single-occupant vehicle had been travelling north on Columbia Avenue and struck the pedestrian while turning left at the intersection.
“At the traffic and pedestrian-controlled intersection, while the vehicle was lawfully making a left turn on a green light, the vehicle entered the pedestrian crosswalk location of the intersection, striking the pedestrian,” said the detachment in a statement.
Emergency services provided treatment to the pedestrian, and she was transported to hospital, where she is expected to make a full recovery.
The police investigation is ongoing, including any potential negligence on the part of the 34-year-old driver and/or the 31-year-old pedestrian.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Castlegar RCMP at (250) 365-7721.
