Storm causes trees down and fires in Trail

Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue (KBRFR) were kept busy today, Wednesday September 25, as high winds caused grief in Trail.

Crews responded to a fire in Sunningdale around 1:38pm, when high winds snapped a tree top off, falling onto power lines below.

“We were able get on that fire quick with a fast knock down.” said Captain Grant Tyson.

The second fire was just before the view point on Highway 22, as another tree is brought down by strong northerly winds.

Teck Fire, Regional Fire Rescue, Trail and Warfield attended the fire on Highway 22.

KBRFR are bracing for further calls with a severe weather warning still active for the region.
