Castlegar RCMP ready to get frosty for Special Olympics BC

Castlegar RCMP officers will trade in their uniforms for swimsuits this month to raise money for Special Olympics BC.

On February 22, Castlegar RCMP officers and local athletes will brave the icy waters of the Columbia River at Millennium Park to support Special Olympics BC.

The Polar Plunge, set to take place at 1:00 p.m., invites community members to participate or donate to raise funds for this great cause.

The goal for this year’s event is to raise $2,500. Castlegar Fire Rescue Service and local search and rescue teams are also planning to participate.

All funds raised locally will stay within the community to directly support Special Olympics BC, an organization dedicated to providing individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to stay active, build relationships, and foster community connections.

Community members can register for the plunge or donate. Those who aren’t brave enough to take the plunge are still encouraged to come out and watch.
