Hogging left lane can get you fined

From now on B.C. motorists must stay in the right lane on highways unless they are passing or allowing traffic to merge.

New provincial regulations have taken effect to try to mitigate left lane hogs on multi-lane highways.

West Kootenay Traffic Services Sergeant John Ferguson says certain drivers leave the right lane for no reason.

Ferguson believes the new laws will work but like anything else it will take time to educate the public.

Anyone hogging the left lane can be fined $167 and have 3 points deducted from their licence.
