The Trail family of a World War Two soldier finally put to rest is deeply touched by the support of local communities.
The remains of Sergeant Eric Honeyman were flown into Castlegar Airport Saturday and buried at Mountain View Cemetary outside Trail Monday afternoon.
Not only did roughly 100 people come to the military funeral, but dozens lined Highway 3 on the weekend to pay their respect to the soldier who died over 70 years ago.
Second cousin Marnie Matthews says the family was really taken aback.
Honeyman was born in Nanaimo but his family moved to California when he was young.
He was killed in 1944 while serving for the U-S Army when was his plane was shot down by Nazis during the Battle of the Bulge.
