Castlegar City Council is not amending its Animal Control bylaw to allow a resident to continue to own pot bellied pigs as pets.
The City acted on a complaint from a neighbor and after looking into things recommended the legislation not be changed.
However, pig owner Andrea Lamont argues the animal makes for a great pet … but only for the right caregiver.
Lamont says a bylaw officer told her husband two years ago they were allowed to have pigs at their home.
Since then they’ve spent a lot of money retrofitting their house for the pigs but are now being told they can’t keep them.
